Martin McLaughlin

President/CEO

Martin is a successful investment management executive who brings extensive knowledge of the pension crisis from both the plan sponsor and pension perspectives.

Martin brings 30 years of experience in managing pension assets for institutional clients, including numerous public and multi-employer pension funds. He began his investment management career with Investment Capital Management Corp in 1987 as a fixed income analyst. He then worked at Killian Asset Management, where he became an owner and its President in 1999, led a team that doubled AUM in 5 years to $900M, and merged it with ASB Capital Management. From 2005-2020, Martin ran the Chicago office for ASB, where he was Managing Director, was a founding member of the Fixed Income and Equity Investment Councils, and worked with a team that managed over $10B AUM.

Since 2013, he has served as President of the Village of Barrington Hills, IL, a plan sponsor of a public pension. During his two terms, he lowered spending, lowered its tax levy in 6 of 7 years, increased infrastructure investment, added to cash reserves, and increased its pension plan funding percentage. On November 3rd, Martin was elected Illinois state representative for the 52 District and will serve in the 102nd General Assembly.

Martin is an active member of his community, having served as Chairman of the Barrington Area Council of Governments, Member of the Executive Board of the Barrington Lions Club, and softball coach for the Cary Trojans. Marty holds a security license since 1987 and a B.S. in Business Administration from Illinois Wesleyan University. Marty, his wife Kathleen, and their 5 daughters reside in Barrington Hills, IL.
